πŸ›‘ Take Action

Whether you’re an individual, part of a mosque committee, work with a charity, or just concerned about justice β€” you have the power to make a difference.

Boycott Banks for Palestine is about breaking the silence around financial complicity. Through research, outreach and pressure, we aim to build a UK Muslim community that banks with integrity β€” and stands in full solidarity with Palestine.

1. πŸ” Start With Yourself

Before we call on institutions to change, we must first take responsibility for our own financial choices.

Every account, transaction, and direct debit contributes to a larger system β€” and collectively, tens of billions of pounds from the UK Muslim community flow through banks complicit in the oppression of Palestinians.

βœ… Check where you bank.
Some high-street banks invest in arms companies, illegal settlements, and surveillance tech used to uphold apartheid.
Use resources like the Which Banks Support Israel or BDS-aligned boycott list to see where your bank stands.

βœ… Move your money.
If your bank is complicit, consider switching to an ethical alternative that doesn’t invest in weapons, apartheid, or occupation.

βœ… Talk to family and friends.
Start conversations about ethical banking and how financial systems contribute to injustice in Palestine.

2. 🧠 Educate Yourself β€” Then Others

Before we can shift institutions, we must first shift ourselves β€” and the conversation around us.

Banking complicity in oppression is often invisible by design. That’s why learning the facts is a form of resistance β€” and a first step toward change.

  • Read our research and understand how UK banks are implicated in apartheid and occupation.
  • Learn how the BDS movement frames financial boycotts as part of a broader justice strategy.
  • Ask critical questions in your own spaces: β€œWhy don’t we talk about where our money goes?”

πŸ“’ Changing the public discourse begins when more of us speak β€” in khutbahs, community meetings, group chats, and boardrooms. The silence around banking is not neutral. It sustains the status quo.

3. πŸ•Œ Reach Out to Your Institutions

Many UK mosques, charities, schools and community centres bank with major institutions β€” some of which fund arms companies, illegal settlements, and apartheid infrastructure.

πŸ’¬ Ask the question:
“Where do we bank β€” and is it aligned with our values?”

πŸ“’ Share our research with charity trustees, mosque committees, or board members. Many simply don’t know the implications of their bank’s activities.

πŸ“„ Encourage a review of financial partners. Propose ethical banking alternatives. Offer to be part of the process.

4. πŸ“£ Raise Awareness & Amplify

Silence enables complicity. Help spread the message in your networks.
