Who We Are

Boycott Banks for Palestine is a UK-based initiative working to raise awareness within the Muslim community about how our financial relationships may be entangled with injustice — particularly through banking with institutions complicit in the genocide and apartheid in Palestine.

We operate within the framework of the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, guided by its ethical standards and commitment to non-violent resistance.

Our Mission

Millions of Muslims in the UK trust mainstream banks to manage their finances — from individuals to masaajid, charities, and national community institutions. But many of these banks:

  • Invest in or profit from arms companies
  • Finance companies involved in the occupation of Palestine
  • Are complicit in documented human rights violations

Our research reveals that tens of billions of pounds from the UK Muslim community are passing through such banks. Yet, awareness and public discourse on this issue remain almost non-existent.

We aim to change that.

What We Do

We focus on research, advocacy, and community mobilisation, especially at the institutional level, where change can have large-scale impact.

Our work includes:

  • Publishing research on banking relationships of Islamic organisations
  • Providing banking guidance based on BDS criteria
  • Advocating for divestment from institutions complicit in apartheid and genocide
  • Increase friction with complicit financial systems
